Judge: You are still under oath.
Nel: If it may please the court, my lady. I received a call yesterday, that is why I have my phone in my hand.
Nel: Mrs. Steenkamp did confirm that she had received contact for a meeting with you and that she felt it was not yet appropriate.
Nel: In your evidence in chief, you stated how important your religion is to you. You also said that you always wanted to have a partner that was a Christian.
Nel: Was Reeva your first Christian partner?
Nel: I am not challenging you faith. I find the way that you gave your evidence interesting. You said the Reeva was a very strong Christian.
OP: Yes, my lady. She prayed for me.
Nel: You cut my cross-examination in half. You said that "She prayed for me"
OP: That is true, my lady.
Nel: Have you reported a crime at the police station?
OP: The only crime that I reported at the police station was. a wrongful arrest.
Nel: DId you ever go to the police station and report a crime against you?
OP: No, I did not, my lady.
OP: As I explained earlier, I had a house breaking while I was overseas. I returned a week later and didn't think it was relevant that the police could do anything about it.
Nel: You have been a victim of a burglary, they stole items out of your house. You never reported that. You had a dog kicked and never reported that.
OP: The police did come out, but a docket was never opened.
Nel: That was not at Silver Woods?
Nel: In Silver Woods, you were never a victim of crime at your house?
OP: That is correct, my lady. Except for the police stealing my watches at my house, my lady.
Nel: What also happened at Silver Woods, I do not know when. Early 2012, they increased the security.
OP: I am not sure when, I was away a lot. They employed new security companies. I am not sure what the increasing measures were.
Nel: And yet, you felt it was okay to leave your vehicles outside. You thought that no-one would break into your car?
OP: I thought it was, my lady.
Nel: You thought it was safe enough, not to fix the broken window?
OP: My lady, I had bought a new window to be replace.
Nel: But it had been broken for some time.
OP: Yes, but there is a latch at the top of the window.
Nel: You say they had been working at your house. For how long had they been there?
OP: I would say about a week, my lady.
Nel: And you were not concerned about the ladders on the side of your house?
OP: I was concerned, my lady. I had asked the contractor to put the ladders in my garage every afternoon.
Nel: But that night they didn't?
OP: I am not sure why not.
Nel: So it was not important to you?
OP: It was important, I am not sure why I didn't check it that night.
Nel: So you were up to date with the security measures in the estate?
OP: Not really, my lady. I was aware that there was constantly improvements being done. Mr. Stander would tell me about what had happened while I was away.
OP: But I wasn't aware of what improvements had been happening while I was away.
Nel: Did you not speak to people at the Home Owners Association meeting about how you felt about the security measures?
