Roux: If I may ask everyone in court to be quiet. Then can you tell us what the instrument measures?
Lin: 40 and 41dba my lady.
Roux: SO we know it is lower than that?
Roux: When you were asked about the newly erected houses. You were shown the photograph of the area shortly after the incident.
Roux: Did you include the new houses into your calulations?
Lin: No, the new houses would have meant that the noise would have been lower.
Roux: Thank-you my lady I have nothing further.
Judge: Thank-you for your assistance. You may step down.
Roux: My lady, my next witness is on the way. May we just get 3 minutes to get a document?
Roux: Next witness is Mr. Van Zyl. We also ask that the court order is in place.
Judge: Image of this witness is not to be televised or produced in any form.
Roux: I want you in your own words to tell the court about your relationship with OP and how it came about.
VZ: I am his manager or agent.
VZ: I met him for the first time in 2004.
Roux: What did that entail?
VZ: Acquire sponsorships for the client, arrange races and ensure all finances are in place. We pretty much had daily contact.
Roux: In consultation, I asked you about OP, can you tell the court what you told me?
VZ: It was very evident, that he had a heightened sense of awareness.
Roux: Can you tell me about how he would park?
VZ: He would always park in open spaces. Even at the airport. He would look for areas where there was lots of lights.
Roux: When you were abroad and he was in his hotel room, how would he secure his safety?
VZ: By knocking on the door, he would always ask first who was at the door. The door would always be locked with the latch on the door.
Roux: You also informed me about when you sat down at his dinning room table to sign contracts?
VZ: Whenever we were sitting around the table, sometimes it was annoying for me. As if he could not focus. He was always fidgeting, looking around.
VZ: He would always sit close to the door at restaurants.
VZ: There was an instance in a plane, where OP had severe blisters on his stumps. He removed his prosthesis and covered his legs with a blanket.
VZ: At some stage one of the legs fall over and when an airhostess tried to pick it up politely. OP had felt someone close and was startled. He grabbed his leg from her.
Roux: Did he display any aggression at any time?
VZ: In my personal impression, I can only recall him losing his temper in 2 occasions. I in fact lost my temper more than him.
VZ: One was when we landed in Barcelona, we arrived and as we came through, a camera crew stuck a camera in his face. I myself lost my temper.
